The 2000 SPC Rally

The Clubhouse

Fearless leaders (33k)
Club co-presidents Deebs & Tapp

We gathered after the movie on Friday night at the SPC Clubhouse (Deebs' garage).  We all got a chance to take a look at all of his broken parts (head, valves, pistons, trans, ...) from over the years and hear the stories behind them.

Parts (33k)More parts (31k)

Deebs wanted to clean out the garage and get rid of a lot of the parts that were stripped off the SPC parts car (pic HERE) as well as his lean road-racing machine.  Because of this, many of us got some great deals on parts.

After yesterday's day on the road course (and a few beers at the clubhouse), Carl was thinking that  U.S. Lawnmower Racing Association was the fastest way he could get back out on the track.

The Car Show

On Saturday (June 17), we washed & detailed the cars and headed out to Saturn of Countryside.  They provided lunch for us and were host to our car show.

We took a close look at and admired few of the new cars that were on the lot (or at least the more important parts of them).

The show (32k)

We spent a lot of time admiring the variety of beautiful cars that were present.

Crammed (30k)6" drop (31k)

I don't know who or what prompted us to see how many people would fit in the rented SL2, but we gave it our best effort.  We fit 12 people (with the doors closed) weighing a total of 2,090 pounds, and got to see what a 6" drop looks like.  If you look closely, you can even see daylight near the headliner where we could have fit two more people.

The car show ended a bit early when the retailer's management expressed concern about an over-excited owner's parking lot burnout.  It was unfortunate, as this was not the impression we wanted to leave at a retailer that has been so kind to us in the past.
